Preview
The Texas Rangers head to Truist Park on Sunday, July 19 for a 1:35 PM ET afternoon matchup against the Atlanta Braves. Nathan Eovaldi gets the start for Texas against Atlanta's Grant Holmes. It's a midseason interleague contest with real implications — the Rangers are building toward October and every game between now and then matters. Catch it on Rangers Sports Network presented by Progressive, or listen on 680 AM/93.7 FM and 105.3 The Fan.
Pitching Matchup: Nathan Eovaldi vs. Grant Holmes
Eovaldi is the kind of veteran arm you want on the mound when your team needs a steady hand on the road. He's a power pitcher who attacks hitters with a fastball-heavy mix and isn't afraid of big moments. His durability and competitiveness have made him a reliable presence in the Texas rotation.
Holmes draws the start for the Braves. He's a right-handed option Atlanta is counting on to hold down the back end of their rotation. Texas hitters will look to test him early and get deep counts, especially given the lineup Bruce Bochy is rolling out on Sunday.

Keys to Watch for the Rangers
Wyatt Langford Hitting Second
Langford slotting into the two-hole is a lineup construction worth watching. He gives Texas a younger, athletic presence near the top of the order, and how he handles Holmes early in the game could set the tone for the Rangers' offense.
Josh Jung in the Three Spot
Jung batting third puts the Rangers' run production through their corner infield. If Pederson and Langford get on base, Jung has the chance to do real damage. His at-bats against Holmes will be among the most important of the afternoon.
Eovaldi Keeping Atlanta's Middle of the Order Quiet
The Braves have punch in their lineup with Matt Olson at third and Michael Harris II cleaning up. Eovaldi needs to work efficiently against that stretch and avoid putting runners on base ahead of Atlanta's power threats. His command of the strike zone will be the central story on the mound for Texas.
Evan Carter's Development
Carter in center field and batting seventh gives Texas a look at one of their younger pieces in a real game environment. His reads on the ball defensively at Truist Park and his plate approach against a starter he may not have seen much will be worth monitoring.
Prediction
Eovaldi has the experience edge in this matchup, and the Rangers' lineup has enough depth to generate runs against Holmes. Texas is the more complete team on paper today. Give the edge to the Rangers, 5-3, with Eovaldi delivering six solid innings and the middle of the Texas order doing enough damage to keep Atlanta at arm's length on the road.
